Tina Hitchens
I am a composer, improviser and sound artist living in Weston-Super-Mare having recently moved from Bristol. I originally studied classical flute performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama but have branched out into free improvisation / experimental music and perform in lots of groups. I often collaborate with visual artists / filmmakers, and have worked in theatre and dance. Previous commissions have included The British Music Collection + Sound & Music, Future Perfect (Bristol) and CANOPY (Forest of Dean). I have a solo songs project, ’Tisla’, which I write and produce.
The sounds I make are varied; I’m interested in the peripheries of sound; texture, space and extremes. I also enjoy improvisation, and am fascinated by how we experience ourselves with others through music. I am studying part-time for an MA in Music Therapy at UWE Bristol.
